Running

How it all started…

I started running about 5-6 years ago. I worked for a company that was sponsoring the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K event. My boss and several others at work were going to participate and encouraged me to join in on the fun. Although I had never ran before, I thought I’d give it a shot. My sister & Dad were both into running as well, so I knew I could get some training advice from them. I’m not much of an athlete – never was in to sports in school. So, Ryan & I joined a gym and I started slowly training on the treadmill. Along the way, Ryan started running too. I could barely make 1/4 a mile before I felt as though I would pass out. Slowly but surely, I worked my way up to 3 miles and completed the 5K! Every since then, we’ve been hooked. We love it. Ryan & I enjoy sharing this hobby together. I posted an entire blog of reason why I love to run…you can read it here. So far, the furthest race we’ve completed is a half marathon. I’m considering training for a full marathon one day, but the thought scares me to death!
